“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
(La Sagrada Familia)
And so… after realizing that I had not taken a real “vacation” for more than 10 years I decided to make it happen. Time goes by so fast and we become so entranced in the servitude of our jobs/careers that we forget to explore the world. We forget that there’s a marvelous world outside our own.
So, after very little convincing… my very good friend Tiffany and I decided to hit Europe together. Weeks later, after some logistical planning, we were ecstatic to finally have our plane tickets and hotels booked! Barcelona, Nice, and Paris awaited.
In Barcelona we stayed at the W Barcelona known locally as the Hotel Vela (sail hotel) because of its shape resembling the sail of a boat. It was perfect! We sunbathed at the beach during the day and then took a cab into town in the afternoon for some sightseeing.
One of my favorite sights was Antoni Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia Basilica. It’s construction began in 1882 and in 2010 reached the halfway point. Check out this segment I did on RightThisMinute about the fascinating design and completion plans: The future of La Sagrada Familia.

From La Sagrada Familia to the Catedral de Barcelona to the Torres winery outside the city…Check out the gallery I put together:
The next stop was Nice, France and then we took a train to Paris. Keep an eye out for that post soon. My intention with this post is to inspire YOU to pack your own bags and GO! Just pick a spot on the map and do it!!! When you do, please be sure to tell me about it and share with me 🙂
